4 Wild Things Happening in Bentonville and Fayetteville

I mangled two business names badly enough on camera that you could not have looked either one up. Both are worth finding, so here they are spelled correctly — along with one thing I said about Centerton that the facts do not support.

1. It is Sicarú Coffee Roasters

I warned you I would butcher it and then delivered: "Sakuru, Saiguru, S, Si AU, coffee roasters." The name is Sicarú Coffee Roasters, at 716 W. Sycamore Street in Fayetteville. Sicarú is a Zapotec word meaning beautiful, which is the kind of detail worth getting right rather than trailing off mid-syllable.

It is owned by Diego Perez and his wife Kerri, along with David and Lily Jo, and it opened on June 14, 2025. It is still operating.

Two things I said that I cannot confirm. I called it a "coffee place and grocery," and I can find no source describing any grocery function — it is a café that also works as an event space and co-working spot. I also cannot confirm whether they roast on site; coverage says their beans currently come from Costa Rica without specifying where the roasting happens. So treat both as things I said rather than things established.

My larger point stands and is well supported. Rogers is roughly 18 percent foreign-born and Springdale about 21.5 percent, against a national average near 14 percent. Springdale has the largest Marshallese community in the continental United States, more than 12,000 people, with around 3,300 Marshallese students in its schools. That is the demand base that makes a niche-inside-a-niche business viable here.

While I am naming things properly: Airship Coffee, which I mentioned alongside Onyx, was founded by Mark and Amber Bray as a small Bentonville roastery in 2010 and now runs several locations including one at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve.

2. The Filipino restaurant is Lasang Pinoy, and yes, they really do karaoke

I never named it on air. It is Lasang Pinoy, at 719 W. Walnut Street, Suite 104 in Rogers — the Walnut Street location I described.

My account of how they got there was right and the real story is better than I told it. They started as a pop-up at Proof Downtown on August 8, 2024, after a May 2024 tornado destroyed their original buildout. The permanent Walnut Street location opened in late April 2025. So the proof-of-concept phase I described was not a cautious business strategy — it was a recovery.

One thing worth spelling out, since I only joked about it: the karaoke is not a gimmick bolted onto a restaurant. Lasang Pinoy has two private karaoke rooms — Go Coconuts and Go Bananas — at $10 per person per hour, with a library of more than 180,000 songs. When I said "will they do the karaoke? Probably not," I was talking about my own odds of singing. The rooms are a real, built-out part of the business, and you should book one.

3. Dodo Coffee lost its building to eminent domain, and the new one just opened

The name is Dodo Coffee Co. — I said "Doddo" a few times — and there is a detail I did not mention, possibly because I did not know it: it is co-owned by NFL wide receiver Cooper Kupp, his wife Anna, and her family.

Everything I said about the displacement is accurate, including the legal mechanism. The original shop at 2699 MLK Jr. Boulevard opened in 2024 and closed on February 27, 2025 because of the MLK and I-49 interchange project. National coverage describes it plainly as an eminent domain taking. They ran a mobile trailer in the meantime.

The new flagship is real and the timing is almost comic. It is at 2568 W. McMillan Drive, just off Wedington near I-49, and it soft-launched on August 21, 2026 — five days before I am writing this — with the grand opening set for August 29. If you watched the original video and have been waiting a year to see whether the new location materialized, it did, this week.

On the neighbors I predicted: Chipotle opened on West Wedington in June 2026. Chick-fil-A has not. As of August 24, 2026, it was still working through a planning commission variance for a driveway. So one of the two arrived, and the other is still in the pipeline.

The broader read on Wedington holds up. The city maintains a formal Wedington Corridor Neighborhood Plan, and the corridor keeps adding retail and restaurants. That is a real growth area, not just a place with available land.

4. Marrs on Main — and the Centerton store I was unfair to

I got this name right. Marrs on Main is at 111 S. Main Street in Bentonville, and it opened on April 4, 2025. Dave and Jenny Marrs do star in HGTV's Fixer to Fabulous, and my season count was right — season seven aired from December 2025 through February 2026, so seven seasons are in the books.

The Centerton store has a name too, which I did not give it: Marrs Mercantile, at 289 N. Main Street. And here is where I need to walk something back.

I said "there's no downtown Centerton. It's just a road downtown Centerton," and I framed the Centerton shop as a place they used to "get their feet in the ground" before doing the real store in Bentonville. That was dismissive, and the evidence does not support it. Marrs Mercantile is still open. It was not superseded. It did not close when the Bentonville flagship arrived, and treating it as a practice run was my read rather than anything they said.

Centerton is one of the fastest-growing cities in Arkansas, and this is not the first time I have used it as an easy punchline and had to come back and fix it. A business choosing to keep operating there while also opening in Bentonville is telling you something about Centerton, and what it is telling you is the opposite of what I said.

If you are visiting, my actual recommendation stands: go during First Fridays or the farmers market. Dave and Jenny genuinely are around the store often, talking to people, and Bentonville is small enough that running into them on the square is an ordinary occurrence rather than a celebrity sighting.
